MN Orchestra presents "Music in Motion" featuring Slo Dance Company

Slo Dance Company will share another iteration of 7 duets on Saturday, July 15th at the Minnesota Orchestra’s summer event, International Day of Music, celebrating “Music in Motion”. Slo Dance has been curated by BRKFST Dance Company to share a 45-minute version of the company’s work premiered in January. This cast will include Noelle Awadallah, Emma Marlar, Leslie O’Neill, Jamie Ryan-Karels, and artistic director Laura Osterhaus Rosenstone with live music collaborator Patrick Marschke. This improvisation-based movement practice is open to folks of all movement levels & experiences. The Southern Theater presents Slo Dance Company

Slo Dance Company presents an evening of dance and live music considering the various duets we find ourselves existing in--with sound, with space, with time, and with each other. Two dance works on the program will invite performers and audience members alike to be curious about what new relationships might be revealed in the act of slowing down. Slo Dance Company is led by Artistic Director Laura Osterhaus Rosenstone, who works with a rotating group of collaborators. The program at the Southern Theater features dance artists Noelle Awadallah, Emilia Bruno, Alexandra Eady, Emma Marlar, Leslie O'Neill, Jamie Ryan-Karels, and Sarah Steichen Stiles with music collaborator Patrick Marschke.

Join Laura Osterhaus and collaborators from her newest work, relative, for a Slo Dance Company class on Wednesday, April 10th. Designed as a class for advanced dancers, attendees will be exposed to the inner workings of the company's process, grounding the group in a practice of Slowness and working their way into movement exploration and repertory.

Slo Dance Company aims to create opportunities for thoughtful interactions through movement, allotting time and space to build and broaden self-awareness and relationships. Please join us!

Set to Ernesto Lecuona's Andalucia Suite Espagnole, Osterhaus and five dancers move through a series of vignettes to live piano accompaniment by Sam Rosenstone. The piece is an exploration of human connection and avenues through which we can gain an understanding of each other.

“relative” is an invitation to consider the people, places, ideas, and objects that you are in relationship with. How many hours a day do you spend looking at a screen versus into the eyes of the people you are sharing your life with? How does this affect you?
